Day 10-Seafoam

Blenko Water Bottle Seafoam

Seafoam was a catalog color from 2000 to 2005.  It can be confused at first glance with Sea Green.  Close inspection shows that Seafoam has a bottom layer of clear glass where we now know Sea Green is green on the bottom.   Seafoam is just Emerald cased in a layer of clear glass.   A casing of clear glass over another thins out the original color and produces a lighter color.  The only way I know of to determine if a water bottle is cased is to look at the very bottom.  If there appears to be a layer of clear on the very bottom, the piece is cased in clear.  This clear layer is sometimes quite thin and other times obviously thick.  Several other cased colors will be revealed in the coming months.  The physical color which is called Seafoam (cased Emerald) was actually made from 1991 to 2005 the same years as Emerald was produced.  However, from 1991 to 1999 it was called Antique Green and replaced an Antique Green which was made with a different formulation.  The original Antique Green was not cased but the replacement Antique Green is cased.  Here is the link for the original Antique Green example: https://blenkowaterbottles.wordpress.com/2012/01/17/day-17-antique-green/
