Day 79-Tequila Sunrise
Tequila Sunrise was never a catalog color but was made and sold at the Blenko Visitors Center. It was made in 2005 and again in 2007. I have had water bottles etched with these two dates. Does anyone have any others dates? (A date of 2004 has been reported.) Tequila Sunrise is Yellow encased in Tangerine. How can you tell if what you have is Tequila Sunrise? There are 3 clues. 1. Tequila Sunrise never shows any clear glass like Tangerine might because the clear would be masked by the underlying layer of Yellow. 2. You should be able to see a distinct layer at the bottom because Tequila Sunrise is cased. 3. The throat of the Tequila Sunrise water bottle will have a thin but very visible layer of Yellow.
You can see the Yellow as a translucent layer on the Tequila Sunrise on the right. It is especially evident on the dark rim. Right click the photo to enlarge. (Tangerine on the left.)
I created a list of Blenko’s cased colors for your reference and added it to the posting below.
